Ellijay: Tumbling Waters

While this isn’t the largest North Georgia waterfall, it is one of the most accessible. As the peak of the Tumbling Waters Trail, just outside of Ellijay, you’ll be greeted by running water doing just what its name suggests: tumbling over the rocks. This is a short, one-mile hike, so it’s fairly accessible to every
type of traveler. Dogs are also allowed to hike this busy trail, so be sure to bring your furry friend out with you to enjoy Tumbling Waters.

Blue Ridge: Amicalola Falls

Easily one of the most famous North Georgia waterfalls, Amicalola Falls is located in North Georgia’s Blue Ridge. Amicalola Falls is also known as being the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi River, standing at an impressive 729 feet. The waterfall is located in Georgia’s Amicalola Falls State Park, and people know it as one of Georgia’s own seven natural wonders. Dogs are also allowed at the falls, and you’re even allowed to swim at the base of the falls when you get there if you need to cool off on a hot day. Amicalola Falls is also known as the southernmost point of the Appalachian Trail, making it a renowned landmark for hikers all over the world and a sight you definitely shouldn’t miss.

Jasper: Padgett Falls

The best North Georgia waterfall in the Jasper area is definitely Padgett Falls. While you can’t actually approach the falls, as it is on private property, it’s perfectly accessible for viewing from the nearby road. Padgett Falls cascades at a smooth 30 feet and is best viewed from Upper Salem Church Road. This North Georgia waterfall, in particular, flows year-round, and some locals even say it’s best viewed in the winter months.
