North Georgia Wineries with Walk-in Tastings

There are two types of vacationers: meticulous planners and spontaneous travelers. Usually, a combination of the two makes for a well-rounded trip, but sometimes a little improvisation makes for extra fun—especially when wine is in the picture. If visiting vineyards wasn't on the docket already, consider making last-minute plans to explore some of the best wineries in North Georgia for a getaway like no other. These vineyards don't require reservations for tastings, so failing to plan won't be an issue when booking from one of our cabins at North Georgia Vacation Spots. Keep reading to learn more about four of our favorite North Georgia wineries with walk-in tastings.

Wolf Mountain Vineyards

At this Dahlonega vineyard, $20 is just a small price to pay to sip on a flight of vino while overlooking the gorgeous slopes of Wolf Mountain. While you're tasting, treat your taste buds to a burrata and prosciutto plate or a margherita pizza for a sophisticated take on tasting room
snacks. Stop by Wolf Mountain Vineyards sometime between Thursday and Sunday to ensure that you get your hands around a glass of estate-grown cabernet sauvignon.

Habersham Winery

Tasting rooms are present in each of this winery's several Georgia locations. Visit the one in Dahlonega, so you don’t have to travel as far from your cabin. For just $7.50, try five wines and take home a souvenir glass for an especially affordable and delicious experience at Habersham Winery.

Sharp Mountain Vineyards

This Jasper winery showcases European grapes turned into dry and sweet whites and dry reds. Whisk yourself to Tuscany with a Sangiovese red or to the northeast border of France and Germany with the white Gewurztraminer. Although it’s only open on weekends, this installment in the series of North Georgia wineries is worth a trip for their summery Tuscan reds.

Chateau Meichtry

This family vineyard and winery in Talking Rock is open seven days a week because they know that wine tastings are necessary on weekdays, too. Three options fit any budget during one of your North Georgia getaways: try five wines for $10, six wines and a double pour finish in a chocolate cup for $15, or five wines and an engraved Chateau Meichtry souvenir glass for $20. Like many other wineries, live music sets the ambiance on the weekends and puts the finishing touches on an already peaceful atmosphere.
